I drew myself in number two pencil. My reflection was my inspiration and my love of science of the lambs. I included the Hannibal Lector mask with exaggerated cheekbones and chin to appear more mature and adult-like. I smiled creepily and raised my eyebrows for added effect.
In my altered book this week I used the theme that defaced a photo of myself. There is an umbrella tree that grew from a bone of a giant. I am an animal that has titty ribs, from legs and back, human feet, webbed hands and genitive facial skin. There is also a a snake that swallowed a clock and became somewhat translucent while remaining classy in his monical, bow tie, and top hat. We are stuck in limbo together and have nothing else in our world, but ourselves.
Title: "The Meeting (Bonjour Monsieur Courbet)"
Artist: Gustave Courbet Date: 1854 Medium: Oil on Canvas Size: 123cm x 149cm This week I picked the theme of movable parts. This parts that turn are tweak-able nipple-eyes on a face. I used pencil to draw the nose and lips then went over it with a wet paintbrush. I added the color to the work with water color. I used darker skin tone shading to make cheekbones and add a breast-like physic to the piece.
This week I used the theme of drawing with a pen and I also included marker and sharpie. My artwork is of an aborted fetus reinhabiting it's uteran home years after it's untimely demise. I wanted to have the baby look aged because of the freezing process it undergoes and I did this by giving the baby chronic-old-person-face using age lines. I made the head very round and child-like to give it an opposing effect. The curly hair makes the baby look evil and uncontrollable. I wanted the eggs to look like frog eggs, unhuman and full of potential, I did this making them seem in excess in a sac-like ovary.
This week's theme in my altered book is to use newspaper clippings. In my artwork an alien with eight appendages is being crucified. I cut out the cross from a calendar and the alien from a magazine. The emphasizing arrows were watercolored in cool colors to contradict the warm, bright cross. I drew the eye and eyelashes with pencil to give the cross somewhere to sit, some structure around it and something to interact with in the piece.
